Latakia Fire Cured Oriental
Latakia is not a unique type of tobacco, but rather the name of the leaf after it has been smoke-cured. Starting with tobacco very similar to our Yenidje, this leaf, grown in Cyprus, is first harvested, and sun-dried, before being loaded into smoking barns. They are then smoked, in a manner very similar to our Dark Fire Cured Leaf, although more aromatic smoking woods are used. This gives the leave a very unique smoky floral flavor, which has been noted to have uniquely smooth smoking properties, despite its bold aroma.
Often considered spice tobacco, it will not usually make up more than 10-20% of any pipe or cigarette blends. This leaf is commonly blended with Virginia Flue Cured tobaccos to bring out its unique flavor profile.
